Blather and Bluster - Time to put away the Euro-sceptic fancy dress till the next election
Having relied on their tribal voters and grassroots to deliver the vote, the Tories quickly revert to form and pour a bucket of ice cold water on the people who voted them in.

Why do people keep …
Why do people keep saying Obstacle! What the is wrong with you people, the opinion of the Irish people is not an obstacle to get around, it’s simply a fact. Every single thing I’e read today has refered to public opinion as an obstacle! Let the irish be.

I think that the …
I think that the conservatives want to go the right way but when they look at the income that they get from being an MEP I cant see them turning their back on there duck houses and moats.
Daniel Hannan seems to have the best views out of the majority of the conservative MEPs IMO

I am confused why …
I am confused why is it bad to be Switzerland?
Seems like to me even if you are in the EU you don’t have a voice really when it comes to this treaty.
I only see the Tories and talking a good game but at the end of the day kissing the EU’s backside. UKIP if they stick to their platform is the better choice.

Unbelievable…

Unbelievable…
Yes you’re right - what you say is.

I’m saying what I’m …
I’m saying what I’m saying:
There is free movement of goods, services, capital and persons between the EU and the Swiss Confederation…
Unbelievable…

Freedom of movement …
Freedom of movement? Are you saying that the Swiss have open borders?
July 3rd, 2009 at 8:22 am
You’re not supposed …
You’re not supposed to know everything, so I’ll just inform you that the 20 trillion Brussels regulations do apply in Switzerland when it comes to trade and the freedom of movement. They just take it… without having any say on their shape.
sad story…

yes and i does not …
yes and i does not have to be bound by the 10s of thousands of damaging and interferreing regulations that comes from brussles they dont have their national powers removed or their lives interfered with, and they get to trade sounds like a bloody good idea to me.

Since when is being …
Since when is being free being on the margins?
July 3rd, 2009 at 8:22 am
of course it is: …
of course it is: it’s part of the economic area but doesn’t participate in the legislation process and has no influence what’s so ever on the shape of the rules…
greetings from Brussels

“In Europe but not …
“In Europe but not run by Europe” doesn’t bloody MEAN anything. God. Come on, Hannanites, when are you going to take the reigns?

I’m an American and …
I’m an American and it is with trepidation that I opine on UK politics, but it seems to me the Tories are similar to the GOP: a party that talks a good game when in opposition but shares all the fundamental umptions with the “other party,” and so reverts to true form once elected. The GOP takes its core constituents for granted and is vaguely embarrassed by them. Like the Tories, they are the other side of the same coin.

Is Switzerland …
Is Switzerland marginalised?
July 3rd, 2009 at 8:22 am
I still can’t …
I still can’t believe it has come to this. Throw them all out. Kenneth Clark is a traitor to this country. William Hague too, They have made millions through working with Euope and there is obviously a conflict of interest. It is time for total reform and get out of the European Union. Let us all get behind UKIP and drive these quislings out of the government.

Haha for those that …
Haha for those that haven’t travelled this is sarcasm. 10 / 10.

How much clearer do …
How much clearer do the Tories need to be before people realise what a band of traitorous weasels they are?
Even their own EUsceptics cling on to some pathetic belief that Cameron & co can get some power back.
Read the treaties you morons! It is a ONE WAY train with NO reverse gear!
July 3rd, 2009 at 8:22 am
It’s quite obvious …
It’s quite obvious that the Tories will never withdraw from Europe. UKIP need to legitimize their party even further so that they’re not viewed as a ‘protest vote’ but as a power in Westminster. This EU is a nightmare, and I can see why some view it as the EUSSR.

Amazing to see the …
Amazing to see the normally impressive Clarke flim-flamming and dodging like this.
Who cares if he finds debates on treaties tiresome. Who cares if some people don’t want old debates to come back. Politics does not exist for there benefit. If they don’t like it, get out of the way.
July 3rd, 2009 at 8:22 am
Let’s just ume …
Let’s just ume that whatever the Tories say, they will never actually give the people what they want.
So the Tories are the Euro-phile centre-right party.
And the UKIP are the Euro-sceptic centre-right party.
A Tory-UKIP coalition in Westminster would be a nice result.
If the Tories won’t represent the people, we just need to get a bit creative.

“Leading europe not …
“Leading europe not leaving europe” thats why then, that 75% of our laws are made in Brussels and not here…..

Anyone who trusts the Tories deserves their fate. Come on, Ireland!
